Treatment duration: 15 – 30 minutes
Body area: Face
Duration of effect: 3 – 6 months
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: none
Details: Reversible; accelerated degradation of the substance due to pronounced sweating, exercise, sauna, sunlight
We use botox (botulinum toxin) primarily to treat lines and wrinkles in the upper half of the face, such as furrows, worry line and crows’ feet. Injections are carried out by our medical specialists only. Botox temporarily inhibits mimic muscles in the treated area, smoothing lines and wrinkles. We also use botox for medical purposes, such as treating migraines, hyperhydrosis (excess sweating), and bruxism (teeth grinding). We place high importance on a detailed consultation before treatment, including an in-depth discussion of the desired results. Botox treatment is a long-proven procedure with a limited duration of effect. This means assured complete reversal, if desired. Moreover, botox treatment allows the results to be tailored to the individual patient. Whether full smoothing of wrinkles or subtle effects, the right dose is chosen to achieve the optimum, esthetically pleasing result. Today, many patients do not appreciate a mask-like look and prefer a natural appearance instead. For the initial treatment we inject a smaller dose, with “re-treatment” possible at follow-up if necessary and desired.
Botox treatment is quick and can be done “in between” without the patient needing to take time off work. The area to be treated can optionally be numbed by applying an anesthetic cream. Depending on the individual lifestyle (many visits to the sauna, extreme sport, sun, alcohol, smoking, etc.), the effect lasts between 3 and 6 months.
Treatment duration: 25 – 45 minutes
Body area: Face, décolleté, neck, hands
Duration of effect: 6 – 12 months, depending on the specific area; lips: 4 – 6 months
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: none
Details: Can be repeated, if necessary; smoking leads to faster degradation of the filler.
Hyaluronic acid is well known as an ingredient of anti-aging creams or serums. But it can do much more: When skin care and cosmetics are not enough anymore, because as a normal process of aging our face develops more lines and wrinkles, filler injections with hyaluronic acid can in some cases be appropriate. Some lines make us look more attractive, more cheerful, and friendlier, while other make us look tired, tense, or even sullen. This is one of the reasons why anti-wrinkle treatments which make us look radiant are more popular than ever, both among men and women. Fillers are part of the trend of non-invasive treatments and have been markedly growing in popularity for some years. In fact, hyaluronic acid is produced by the body and is naturally found in the skin. As part of the extracellular matrix it is also found in connective tissue which is of high importance for wrinkle-free skin and youthful appearance.
After a certain age, the body stops producing hyaluronic acid, which however can then be supplied from the outside. The hyaluronic acid, which binds water and creates volume under the skin, is injected directly into the line which is perceived as bothersome. The effect is immediately visible. The treatment is a real, convincing alternative to a complex surgical face lift.
Filler injections can be used to correct a wide variety of lines and wrinkles. We treat the following areas:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Lip wrinkles
- Cheeks
- Jawline (straightening)
- Lips (volume boost)
- Hands
- Décolleté
Often a combination of several methods is the solution of choice: botox for the upper third of the face, hyaluronic acid for other bothersome face lines, and injection lipolysis to reduce jowls. During an initial consultation, your doctor will explain the most suitable method, its mode and duration of action, and which results to expect. Biodegradable substances such as hyaluronic acid are low-risk, but come with the disadvantage that their effect is only temporary. Generally the effects last 6–12 months, depending on the skin characteristics and the lifestyle of the patient. When the effect has worn off, the treatment can be repeated, if desired.
“PRP” is the abbreviation of “platelet-rich plasma”. PRP therapy is a treatment using the body’s own blood plasma.
We use PRP for the following purposes:
- As a natural anti-aging treatment against lines and wrinkles and for skin rejuvenation in the area of face, neck, and décolleté
- Alopecia (hair-loss) therapy as well as better anchoring of the hair in the scalp after a hair transplant
- Acne treatment
- Scar treatment
First a small amount of blood is collected from the patient and centrifuged in our lab. The blood plasma recovered in this way is then used for the patient’s treatment and given as injections.
Treatment duration: 30 – 60 minutes, including follow-up
Body area: Scalp
Duration of effect: ~ 6 – 12 months; permanent, if repeated on a regular basis
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: none
Details: Three treatment sessions, spaced ~ 4 weeks apart, repeat treatment 1x/year or as required
PRP is a very effective, yet gentle treatment method for thinning hair. It is suitable for brittle or thin hair, hair loss, or bald patches in a beard. Procedure: In a first step, the required PRP is recovered. To do so, a small amount of blood is collected from the patient and processed in our lab. By centrifuging the desired blood components are separated from the rest. This blood plasma, which is injected by the specialist during treatment, is particularly rich in platelets and growth factors. The treatment acts to stop hair loss by strengthening hair roots and stimulating hair growth from within, harnessing the body’s own processes. PRP therapy is also recommended, and used, as a supporting treatment for hair transplants. Usually the treatment is repeated 3–4 times at intervals of roughly 4 weeks. It can also be combined with meso hair therapy, if required. In many cases the treatment does not only stop hair loss, but stimulates re-growth of hair, so that the hair becomes fuller and thicker.
To achieve a permanent effect, the treatment should be repeated 1–2 times per year, as needed.
Treatment duration: 30 – 60 minutes, including follow-up
Body area: Face, neck, décolleté
Duration of effect: ~ 6 – 12 months
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: 1–2 days (limited social presentability)
Details: A very natural anti-aging method
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) lifting is a relatively new, low-risk method of line and wrinkle treatment which harnesses the body’s own capacity of regeneration. A very small amount of blood is collected from the patient. The blood is then centrifuged to recover the plasma which has a very high concentration of platelets and growth factors. The treating specialist injects the plasma into the subcutaneous tissue using a fine needle. This triggers a natural regeneration process: growth of connective tissue cells is stimulated and collagen production is boosted. The skin appears firmer, lines are bolstered up. Blood flow in the skin is also stimulated. This results in an overall effect of rejuvenation. A particular advantage of this therapy is that only components from the patient’s own blood are used for the treatment, no foreign substances. This natural method of skin regeneration is increasingly preferred by patients who are skeptical about anti-wrinkle treatments using substances foreign to the body. Since the method only uses the patient’s own blood plasma, there is no risk of allergic reactions as is the case with foreign substances. The treatment takes about 40–60 minutes. The area to be treated can be numbed with an anesthetic cream, if desired. Initial swelling subsides relatively quickly when cooling and special face masks are applied. The first effects become visible after just a few days. It takes roughly 2–3 months for the process of cell regeneration to be completed. However, even endogenous substances are broken down by the body over time. The effect lasts up to 12 months. A booster treatment with PRP 1x or 2x per year stabilizes and increases the effect.
Treatment duration: 30 – 60 minutes, including follow-up
Body area: Face, neck, décolleté; for scars: whole body
Duration of effect: 6 months to permanent, depending on the indication
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: 1 – 2 days (limited social presentability)
Details: A very natural anti-aging method and effective treatment for unseemly scars and stretch marks
During this treatment, the specialist works with a derma roller covered with a multitude of ultra-fine needles made from surgical steel. The needles penetrate the keratinized top layer of the skin and loosen dead skin cells. The mechanical stimulus triggers the skin tissue to produce collagen. This process is described as generative wound healing and results in a tension-based smoothing of the skin. Blemishes are reduced, while elasticity, moisture content, and blood flow of the skin improve measurably. Nourishing skincare and anti-aging products are absorbed by the skin faster and deeper, unfolding their full efficacy.
Indications for microneedling:
General skin firming:
Microneedling can be used both on the face and the body to treat bothersome excess skin. It also delivers very good results when combined with injection lipolysis or meso therapy.
Treatment of stretch marks:
This is one of the most difficult indications to treat. However, stimulation of collagen production can achieve a significant improvement. A combination with injection lipolysis or meso therapy can also be useful in this case.
Scar treatment:
The scarred area, for example acne scars or scars from injuries, burns, or surgery, is deliberately wounded with the derma roller. A combination with PRP (platelet-rich plasma; patient’s own plasma, introduced into the skin) is highly recommendable, because the application of PRP introduces growth factors directly into the tissue to stimulate collagen production. Scars become noticeably flatter, and the skin attains a more uniform appearance.
Treatment duration: 30 – 90 minutes, including follow-up
Body area: Face and body
Anesthetic cream possible: Yes
Downtime: 1 day
Details: Avoid exercise/sport, sunlight, sauna, swimming, and alcohol for at least 1 week
Injection lipolysis is an esthetic treatment which can reduce unwanted subcutaneous fat in a simple, targeted, and long-lasting manner. During the treatment a fine needle is used to inject the active substance directly into the subcutaneous fat, dissolving it. This is due to so-called lipolysis being triggered in the body. The body eliminates the dissolved fat from the injection sites via the lymphatic system and the liver. The method is based on reinforcing processes which naturally occur in the body. Shortly after the injections, patients will notice a local reaction in the form of redness, a burning sensation, pain and/or swelling. These complaints resolve after a few days. Depending on the individual case about 3–6 treatment sessions are required. The treatment may be repeated after 4–8 weeks, depending on the drug used. The body contour changes in a gradual, continuous process. Lipolysis therapy is primarily suitable for patients with normal weight and only small problematic areas. The therapy is not suitable for obese patients. The treatment duration is between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the area treated.
